   Dixie Swim Club

   Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college      swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives. THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years. This hilarious play will make you laugh, cry and laugh some more……….

Text Box: Having Our Say Directed by Fred Motley January 16, 2010, 7:30pm Kirby Theater The play opens as 103-year-old Sadie Delany, played by Carla Mitchell, and 101-year-old Bessie Delany, played by Laquita Lipscomb, welcome us into their Mount Vernon, New York, home. As they prepare a celebratory dinner in remembrance of their father's birthday, they take us on a remarkable journey through the last hundred years of our nation's history and careers as pioneering African-American professionals. Their story is not simply African-American history or women's history, but it is our history, told through the eyes of two unforgettable women as they look not only to the past, but also ahead into the twenty-first century.
