We will have a pit orchestra and a pit chorus to reinforce chorus on stage. Lots of options of where to be and things to do in this show.

 

        Roxboro Little Theater invites auditions for the famed musical “Fiddler on the Roof” Thursday and Friday, September 3 & 4, 6:30p.m., at the Kirby Theater, 213 N Main Street, Roxboro, NC. The production will take place November 19 – 22. Callbacks will follow on Saturday, September 5 (if necessary), and the cast will be announced on Monday, September. 7. In addition to the adult roles, some children’s parts will be available for those in sixth grade and up. All audition materials are downloadable online at www.ArtsInPerson.com. Those interested in major roles should prepare from these materials. The production will also feature a 16-piece orchestra directed by Eric Swanson, band director of Roxboro Community School. Anyone interested in participating in the orchestra or need further information about auditions should call 336-597-1709. This production is ssponsored by The Kirby Theater, Person County Recreation, Arts and Parks and Piedmont Community College.  

        

         In addition to the singers and actors on stage, this production will include a supporting chorus of singers who will perform the choral parts from the orchestra pit. The Pit Chorus will be made up of 14 to 16 singers (Soprano, Alto, Bass, Tenor) and will have limited rehearsals and will not be required for movement or blocking on stage. This is a great way to be in the show if you don’t act. Audition for chorus will consist of one prepared song of your choice using CD or piano accompaniment (accompanist will be provided). Auditionees will also be asked to sing something from the show at sight.

 

     “Fiddler on the Roof” is one of the most popular musicals in the world and has played on Broadway for many years. This moving story follows a poor Russian dairyman who raises five daughters in a changing society while still trying to hold on to his traditions.
          

     Performances will take place in the Kirby Theater. General Admission seating tickets will be $10 for Patron, $15 for Orchestra and $25 for Dress Circle $8 for senior citizens, and $3 for students including PCC Students and children age 5 and under are free. Groups of ten or more call for pricing.

Constable (40 - 60, non-singing)

Constable

The Constable is the local sheriff representing the anti-Semitic Russian government. Take care to cast an actor who can provide a sense of threat, foreboding, and conflict. The Constable is a complex character who is conflicted over his relative goodwill toward individuals in the Jewish community and his duty to harass them. This is a non-singing role that requires a good, strong actor.

 

The Villagers

People who make up the little town of Anatevka. Must have some stage experience, able to sing and light movement is involved.

Mixed voice chorus of approx. 14 singers. Must be competent singer and read  music
