The Kirby
         
  About Kirby Civic Auditorium  
  The date was Monday, August 1, 1949. Where the brand new 1028 seat Kirby Theatre open its doors for the first time. Stewart and June Ally, was the Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer picture selected for the grand opening. Roxboro and Person County fell in love with both their new theater after that wonderful movie.

The admission sign at the box office window read-
Matinee - 15 cents for children - 36 cents for adults. Evenings - 15 cents for children and 42 cents for adults. Popcorn was 15 cents per box.
